Welcome to Silver Screen Loungerie! - The online mecca for vintage lingerie aficionados. This is where sirens & stars, sex-pots & pin-ups, bombshells & brides, divas & kittens, it-girls & party girls, femme fatales & pop princesses, goddesses & glamour queens, vixens & vamps, ladies & lasses, starlets & harlots, and Über fashionistas shop for the vintage lingerie of their dreams.
Silver Screen Loungerie endeavors to offer vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we occasionally find a “new/old stock” piece, like this one, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous or original owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring these pieces, as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This rayon nightgown is one of our slinkiest nightgowns from the 1940s WW-2 era! You will find this beauty listed in the Nightgowns and Bridal Trousseau departments. This nightgown bears the Seamprufe label, and it is made of that fabulous, but no-longer-available, rayon crepe-de-chine fabric. The size is indicated as a “34”, but our measurements indicate a comfortable 35 inches around the bust. The gown has never-before been worn, and the condition is the same as the 1940s day when it was made! The weave of rayon fabric has the same feel and the same lustrous finish on both sides. Turn the gown inside-out, and you’ll not notice any difference! You’ll notice a few fold lines from long-time storage. The gown is so pristine, that we decided to not iron it.
The gown features deep ‘V’ necklines on both front and back. It has an inverted-V midriff piece, and the front neckline is edged with leafy figures on a sheer net material. The bias-cut skirt is extra-long, and it makes a soft swishy sound as you walk!
As worn by our 5’ – 10” ‘Gloria’ model, the gown drapes 61 inches to just below her ankles. We offer this gown that is so sensual to wear, and gives you a most-definite slinky look!
