Edwardian Fancy! 1910s NOS Fancy Silk Crepe Night Dress~ Sz- 44+ (#1653)
Welcome to Silver Screen Loungerie! - The online mecca for vintage lingerie aficionados. This is where sirens & stars, bombshells & brides, divas & kittens, femme fatales & pop princesses, goddesses & glamour queens, vixens & vamps, starlets & harlots, and Über fashionistas shop for the vintage lingerie of their dreams.
Silver Screen Loungerie offers vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we occasionally find a “new/old stock” (NOS) piece, like this one, most of our items have been gently worn by a previous or original owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring these pieces, as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This beautiful silk night dress dates from the 1910s Edwardian Era. Can you imagine a century-old silk lingerie piece that has never yet been worn? …And that looks like it was made just yesterday? On “SSL”, you will find this beauty in the “Flapper Frillies” and “Richard’s Collection” departments.
This garment has just two super-faint water-spots - due to the many years of storage. There are no flaws that we could find in the silk fabric, and the French seams are as strong as they originally were. The puffy silk flower and the perfect lace trim indicate no wear at all by the original owner! There is no maker’s label – just a small (and meaningless) size tag, “16”.
As with most “pre-1930s” gowns, this night dress is straight-cut, and hangs straight from the shoulders. It is very loose-fitting. On our 5’ - 10” ’Gloria’ model, the hem extends to below her mid-calf level – about 48 inches long.
Although silk lingerie can easily be hand-laundered, we recommend dry cleaning of this piece by the new owner. (Laundering or cleaning will also remove the super-faint water-spots.)
The gown is not only beautiful to look at, but worn with care, it is eminently wearable by today’s modern woman!
It is ready to wear and fit for a Star – YOU – the Leading Star of your own life!
