Fabulous Francine! 1940s NOS Lace & Rayon Nightgown~ Sz- 38 (#1560)
Welcome to Silver Screen Loungerie! - The online mecca for vintage lingerie aficionados. This is where sirens & stars, sex-pots & pin-ups, bombshells & brides, divas & kittens, it-girls & party girls, femme fatales & pop princesses, goddesses & glamour queens, vixens & vamps, ladies & lasses, starlets & harlots, and Über fashionistas shop for the vintage lingerie of their dreams.
Silver Screen Loungerie offers vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we occasionally find a “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by a previous or original owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring these pieces, as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This “drop-dead” gorgeous nightgown was made of that wonderful rayon crepe-de-chine fabric that is no longer being made. The gown was made in the WW-2 era, and it has never been worn. This nightgown is displayed in both the Nightgowns and Bridal Trousseau categories.
The rayon crepe-de-chine fabric is that slinky kind of lingerie-weight rayon… so popular in the slips and nightgowns made during the 1940s war years. The bias-cut style is perfect for this kind of fabric… witness how the gown seems to follow every one of Gloria’s curves! As the inside of the fabric is the same as the outside, you can wear this gown inside-out, and you won’t see or feel any difference.
This nightgown bears the Francine label, and we measured 38 inches around the bust… not the indicated 40. (The stated measurements are those of the nightgown, and your own body measurements should be slightly less for comfort.)
The entire bodice is comprised of ecru lace, with the back V neckline cut lower than the front V. (Dramatic exits are assured!) On our 5’ – 10” in-house ‘Gloria’ model, the gown falls 54 inches to just above her ankles. The gown will be a joy to YOU, the lucky buyer, and the Fabulous Star of your own Boudoir Life!
