This dreamy robe and nightgown ensemble dates from the early 1940s. It is one of our most-glam peignoir sets, and it is located in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie! Both robe and nightgown are in excellent, near-mint condition, and have no flaws that we could find. You will find this beauty in both the Peignoir Sets and Bridal Trousseau categories. This 2-piece robe and nightgown set is a wonderful example of a previously owned piece that that has been lovingly cared for over the past 65 to 70 years. The gown has been gently-worn only a few times. The robe has never been worn. Tula manufactured this set, but the incomparable rayon crepe-de-chine fabric was made by “Narco”. (North American Rayon Corp.) Narco crepe-de-chines are the most exotic-feeling rayon fabrics that were ever made during the WW-2 era… bar none! Turn the nightgown inside-out, and you’ll find no difference in the feel or the looks of the fabric!
Our ‘Gloria’ model stands 5’ – 11”, and measures 33 inches around her bust. This set is tagged as a “16”, and is a beautiful fit on her! The set features matching lace in both pieces, and the robe billows out to an impressive “sweep” of 80 inches. As in most robe and gown ensembles, the robe is an inch or two shorter than the nightgown. The robe can be closed at the centre front, but is often left open.
Although made many years ago, this set is in great wearable condition for today’s modern woman!
This dreamy ensemble will be a joy to wear, and is fit for a Star – YOU – the Leading Star of your Life!
