This uniquely-smocked silk nightgown is in mint condition, and has no flaws that we could find. It is part of the fab Richard’s Collection, and is housed in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie. This nightgown is listed in both the Richard’s Collection and the Nightgowns categories. Click on one of the 'Gloria' models to visit our special boutiques!

We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty

This totally-sheer nightgown appears to have slipped through the cracks of time, as it is in near-mint condition! (No stains and no “pics” in the chiffon!) The gown has very-unique “waffle”-pattern smocking at the midriff, and at the cuffs of the short ‘push-up’ sleeves. Without this smocking, the gown would be the same width (92 inches) from the waist to the hem. No elastic was used. The smocking threads are intertwined in such a manner as to provide for a wide range of waist sizes. Other details include three snaps and a hook/eye closure on the left side. Wide self-fabric ties begin at the front, and are tied at the back in a pretty bow.

Gowns of this design originated in pre-war Japan, but this one has no maker’s label. On our in-house ‘Gloria’ model, (5’ -11”), the hem is just above her ankles. The skirt is very-flared, and describes a half-circle (184 inches) when pulled out straight.

For a gown that was made so long ago, it is so desirable - ready to wear, and fit for a 2011 Star – YOU – the Leading Star of your own Life!
