This thin silk nightgown is among the earliest with the Yolande label, and for a 90-years old lingerie piece… it is still in excellent condition! This is one of Richard’s fab silks, and it is housed in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie. This nightgown is listed in both the Bridal Trousseau and Nightgowns categories. We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty
The Yolande label is also in excellent condition… reflecting the loving care given to this delicate silk nightgown. We found only a few very-faint “smudges” in the skirt… easy to launder out before the gown is sold. The printed size is “40”, and we confirmed a 40-plus inches around the fullest part of the bust. As with all Yolande-made pieces, the gown is “Hand Made”. The side seams are French seamed, and the neckline and hem, and the deep armholes are all finished with a delicate “shell”-stitch. (Looks like a tiny “scallop” stitch.)
The gown was cut on the “straight-of-grain”, and there is no crosswise waist seam. A belt is provided to snug in the gown around the waistline. The upper part of the gown is enhanced by “drawn-work” (ladder-like cutouts), and circles of the most delicate embroidery. On our 5’ – 11” ‘Gloria’ model, the gown is 56 inches long… falling to just above her ankles.
For a gown that was made some 90 years ago, it is so desirable… ready to wear, and fit for a 2011 Star – YOU – the Leading Star of your own Life!
