Frivolous Flapper Girl! Unworn Silk & French Lace Night Dress Sz- 42 (#1317)
This frivolous flapper silk night dress dates from the 1920s, and is one of the best flapper era silks in Richard’s amazing collection! We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. Although we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
For a silk lingerie piece that is about 100 years old, we are amazed to find this gown looking almost as if it were made just yesterday! Both the silk crepe-de-chine fabric and delicate lace are the best that we have seen and felt from any era. The lace at the hem is unusually deep, and is intricately scalloped on both the upper and lower edges.
The inside construction shows the tiny French seams, and the lace edges are embroidered into the silk fabric. The lace-edged armholes are cut extra-deep at 11-1/2 inches. We found just one tiny dirt speck, but it’s off to the side and way out of sight..
This is a “straight-cut” night dress that is designed to hang straight from the shoulders. A small ribbon belt is provided, (there are belt loops), but we feel the gown looks and feels great with or without a belt…. your choice!
As modeled by our 5’ – 11” ‘Gloria’ model, the gown falls to about her mid-calf area.
We offer this beauty as a wonderful boudoir gown that will be a joy to the fortunate buyer! It is ready to wear today as it was in the 1920s!
