This is a most astounding piece of lingerie from the early 1900s and it is in excellent condition! This very-rare, museum-quality beauty is shown in the Richard’s Collection and Bridal Trousseau categories. Click on one of the 'Gloria' models to explore our special boutiques!
We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are committed to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality possible. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible – to their original beauty.
The pieces of this 1900s set are not perfectly matched, as we acquired them at different times. Both camisole and petticoat share silk charmeuse fabrics that are similar but not identical to each other. Amazingly, both pieces have the same ivory colour, and both pieces have “shiny” finishes both inside and out.
Not only are the fabrics of both pieces in unbelievable condition for their 100 years of age, we were truly amazed that there is no deterioration (“fracturing”) of the camisole’s neckline ribbon! (It adjusts the size of the neckline.) Similarly, there are no breaks in the crocheted lace of the camisole. Storage conditions must have been optimum, as the waist elastics of both pieces have plenty of “snap” left to them. The only concession to advanced age is a few very-scattered and very faint water-based spots. These spots are not easily seen, but at the buyer’s request, we would be happy to hand-launder this set.
Both pieces are a most-comfortable fit on our 5’ – 11” size 33 ‘Gloria’ model, and both pieces can be worn by ladies wearing “34s” and “36s”. Whether acquired for display or costuming, or worn to simply “feel good” in, this garment is wonderful on and for YOU -- the “Victorian Vixen” of your own Life!
