This wonderful night dress dates from the early 1900s, and is still in great wearable condition by today’s modern woman! It is one of Richard’s highly-prized gowns that are available in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie! You will find this beauty in both the “Bridal Trousseau” and “Richard’s Collection” departments. Click on one of the 'Gloria' models to explore our special boutiques!
We, at Silver Screen Loungerie, are committed to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality possible. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring these pieces – as much as possible – to their original beauty.
Although the gown is at least 100 years old, we’re amazed by how well the gown has been preserved. The fabric is an early silk crepe, and it has no holes and no stains. The tiny French seams are as strong as they originally were, and the skirt hem has been turned up 2-1/2 inches. (No “toe damage” to the long skirt!) The gown is “straight-cut”, (not bias-cut), and flows “ethereally” from shoulder to hem.
The upper part of the gown features pin-tucking off the shoulders, and the front opening is closed with a tiny silk ribbon. The wrist-length sleeves are trimmed with the same lace trim that is used on the shoulders.
Everything that could be done to enhance the beauty of this gown, was actually done! It’s a most ethereal gown in every sense of the word, and it’s ready to wear and fit for a star – YOU – the leading lady in your life.
Additional pictures are available, and we would be happy to send them on request.
