This extra-large size nightgown has never been worn, and retains its original fabric care tag! It dates from the mid-1940s, and is one of Richard’s “bombshell” gowns in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie! The gown is in excellent, unworn condition, and you will find this beauty in both the Nightgowns and Plus-Size Pretties departments. Click on one of our 'Gloria' models to explore our special boutiques!
We, at Silver Screen Loungerie, endeavor to offer vintage lingerie items of the highest quality possible. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, like this one, most of our items have been gently worn by a previous or original owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care to restore items – as much as possible – to their original beauty.
Although the gown bears the “Bur-Mil” (Burlington Mills) paper care tag, the actual manufacturer is not known. (Bur-Mil made the rayon fabric.) There is also a size 50 cloth tag… slightly faded after we hand-laundered the gown to remove dust and foldlines.
The gown is modeled by size 33 ‘Gloria’, who delights in the very-loose fit of this gown! The rayon crepe-de-chine fabric is the best of the late WW-2 era, and this fabric is simply not made anymore. Sheer cotton lace enhances the neckline, and the shoulder pieces are 3-1/4 inches wide.
The bust does measure an actual 50 inches all the way around! Even so, please be aware that the stated measurements are those of the gown itself. Your own body measurements should be slightly less.
Truly one of our most bombshell gowns, and eminently wearable by today’s modern women! Additional pictures are available, and we would be happy to send them on request.
